My Favorite Family Photoshoot
Spots in Redmond WA

My favorite locations around Redmond, WA for family portrait sessions.

I feel blessed to be living on Seattle's Eastside with my family - with so much greenery, visibility to Mount Rainier and the cascades, from Kirkland to Issaquah - Seattle's Eastside has developed nicely over the last decade and a half since I moved to the area. The Redmond and Sammamish areas particularly have seen lots of developments. Despite the new housing and complexes, the cities have done a great job maintaining its beautiful parks and communities. I've learned how to plan around lighting, privacy, and seasonality.

Marymoor Park offers a versatile set of backdrops - whether we’re needing tall grass, pretty flowers, autumn trees or a picturesque windmill, this park has many gorgeous areas. A quick walk over to West Lake Sammamish during the autumn takes you to a gorgeous path lined with red foliage.

Beautiful Backdrops Everywhere

Best time of year

why i love it

Early to mid-October for those gorgeous reds, or the summer months for the wildflowers and tall grass.

Similar to Marymoor Park, Idylwood offers quick access to a variety of scenic backdrops. What makes Idylwood especially charming is its dock and sandy beach along Lake Sammamish, as well as the sweet little bridges—perfect for swinging your kids or capturing playful moments. Only thing to keep in mind is that parking can fill up quickly on sunny summer days. Check out this couples portrait session that took place at Idylwood Park.

Thanks to the variety of tree ages, Idylwood Park is beautiful throughout the fall—even into November. In the summer months, the park shines with golden sunsets over the beach, creating a perfect backdrop for family photos.

The downtown Redmond park vicinity has quickly become one of my favorite places to photograph families. In summertime, the area bursts with radiant yellow and lavender blooms. Add in the nearby brick bookstore, winding trails, and colorful gardens, and you have a mix of textures and backdrops that make our sessions feel both unique and memorable.

You’ll almost always spot ducks at Idylwood Park—a little delight for kids and grown-ups alike.

The downtown Redmond park vicinity is especially beautiful in spring and summer, when vibrant yellow and lavender flowers create a colorful backdrop. It’s a perfect spot for Redmond family photos, offering a cheerful, seasonal setting that feels both natural and timeless.

One of the things I love most about photographing in Redmond is that beauty can be found almost anywhere. From the well-loved parks to hidden neighborhood trails — like you see here in these holiday family portraits, taken on a quiet, private path just behind my own home — there are countless places that create a meaningful setting for your family’s story. No matter where we choose, the focus will always be on your connection, your joy, and the legacy you’re building together.
